Welcome, welcome, welcome everyone! You may remember me putting out a general call for catchphrases and theme songs, and while none of you submitted anything worthwhile, I must say that I’m in love with the logo that was posted on our page the other day. Whoever has the username ‘thoughtsofthots’ designed this wonderful image of Absinthe as a Transformer-type robot. Miss Thot’s explanation for this is that the acronym of Rich Bitch On the Run is R.B.O.T.R., which sort of looks like the word robot. I’ll go along with that. Congratulations on officially making this podcast robot themed. Now one of you needs to think of a theme song and soon we’ll be on the way to seeming like a legitimate artistic venture.

Anyway, back to the trip. Anita and I took a wrong turn down Zzyzx Road—please google the spelling of that—and ended up in the Mojave Desert. White expanses stretched out into the heat-wave horizon with these boulders embedded in the ground. I stood in that dry heat and reveled in how vast and flat everything was. Dirt roads and dreams and all that clichéd crap. As we tried to find our way back to the interstate or whatever major road we were on, a car pulled up next to us to tell us that our gas tank was open. It’s strange. They seemed friendly enough, but Anita and I were both scared to death.

This was only exacerbated later on when we passed a blackened shell of a car on the side of the road, smoldering and smoking. A car fire. I stuck my head out of the sunroof to see and understood why the area we passed through before was called Death Valley.

We stayed in another hostel in Vegas. Signs inside warned against entering both the strip club and tattoo parlor, on either side of the building. There were more drive-in chapels across the street than there could ever be couples enough to fill them. We took one of the free maps and circled everything that two girls under the age of twenty-one could do and the quickest route between all of our prospective destinations. We weren’t planning to stay long because one of the receptionists seemed like a bit of a creep, and I had a strong suspicion he knew who I was. He offered to do my laundry for free and it sounded more like an invitation into his bed.

At the first casino we went to, there were massive fountains and flowers arranged to look like European cities. The next one had an Eiffel Tower, which I preferred to the real one. We went on a looping roller coaster ride through the streets of New York City and ate sushi in a place where the waitstaff inexplicably began performing intricately choreographed dance routines. The next day really did prove that the entire world exists in Vegas, considering we ate breakfast in Paris then walked down a street in Italy. We got conned into sitting at one of those oxygen bars.
